An alumnus of the esteemed National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Commodore Ashok Chhibbar joined the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in 1969. He has been a Qualified Flying Instructor, commanded two front line fighter bases and served as the Deputy Commandant of the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad, amongst many other field and staff appointments.

In 2001, the Air Commodore was awarded the Ati Visishth Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President of India. In the same year, he was nominated for a course at the prestigious National Defence College (NDC). He has travelled extensively, gaining global exposure through his tours across the USA, UK, Middle East, South East Asia, Europe and Australia.

Ashok Chhibbar superannuated in the rank of Air Commodore in 2004 after an enriching career spanning 35 years. In March 2006, he set up a ground aviation academy for aspiring pilots, collaborating with flying schools in India and overseas. Additionally, he is a consultant specialising in operations, flight safety and training. He has authored three books of short stories viz Raindrops, The Accidental Pilot and The Cry of a Fractured Heart. Air Cmde Chhibbar holds an M.Phil in Defence Studies, with a major in Disaster Management. Air Cmde Chhibbar lives in Pune along with his wife, Veena. They have two daughters, both married.
